AUTHORSHIP POLICY

ISSN: 2982-2181 (Online)

Health Sciences Australia adheres to the guidelines established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding authorship. More information on these organizations can be found at [www.icmje.org] and [http://publicationethics.org]

 Criteria for Authorship

According to the ICMJE, authorship should be based on the following four criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions: Significant contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

  1. Drafting or Revising: Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

  1. Final Approval: Providing final approval of the version to be published.

  1. Accountability: Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals designated as authors must meet all four criteria for authorship.

Alterations in the List of Authors

Health Sciences Australia does not permit changes to the authorship list, including additions and deletions, after the initial submission of the manuscript.

 Contributions Statement

At the time of submission, authors are required to provide a detailed contributions statement outlining the specific contributions made by each author. Incomplete forms may result in processing delays for the manuscript.

 Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is the individual responsible for communication with the journal. This author must be available throughout the submission and peer review process to respond to editorial queries promptly. They should also be available after publication to address critiques of the work and to cooperate with any requests from the journal for data or additional information regarding the paper.

 Author's Address and Affiliation

Authors must include their current addresses. If an author’s present address differs from the location where the work was conducted, this information should be included in a "Present Addresses" note at the bottom of the first page of the manuscript.

 Deceased Authors

If an author is deceased, their name should be marked with a death dagger (†), and a footnote should be included stating that the author is deceased, along with the date of death. For example, “†Deceased 1 January 2016.”

By following these guidelines, Health Sciences Australia aims to uphold the highest authorship and academic integrity standards in its published works.
